Display is blank, VNet content running on the primary monitor, Adaptor set to 0

Potential Symptoms

  • Display is blank.
  • IDM shows a "No Content" alert.
  • When VNC'd into the computer, the content is running on the primary monitor instead of the secondary.

Environment

  • Product Family: Message Displays, Billboards, Video
  • Product: GS6, GT6
  • Component: DMP-8000, DMP-8065, VNet
  • Control System:

Cause

  • Default Adapter is set to 0.

Resolution

  • Change the Default Adapter setting to 1. (DMP-5000 may need adapter 0)

For DMP version 5:

  1. Right-click on the VNet icon in system tray.
  2. Select the Control Panel.
  3. Select the Edit Configuration Settings tab.
  4. Change the Default Adapter settings for 0 to 1.
  5. Restart the Player.
  6. May be necessary to close/restart the VNet Player Manager as well otherwise restart the PC.
  7. Verify display running content.

For DMP version 6 or version 7 legacy interface:

  1. Log into the web configuration.
  2. Go to Configuration tab at the top.
  3. Select Display on the left.
  4. Click on Edit Configuration button.
  5. Set adapter from first drop down to adapter (1).
  6. Continue through configuration, and then send the new config.
  7. The VNet software will reboot, or possibly the computer will reboot.
  8. Verify display running content.

 For DMP version  7 HTML interface:

  1. Log into the web configuration.
  2. Click the "Display" tile from the dashboard.
  3. Click the "Device" dropdown and select the adapter listed with (1) at the end of it.
  4. Select the desktop resolution based on the VIP version in use.
    • VIP-5060 (DMP-8065 controllers) - 1280x720p @ 60Hz
    • VIP-51x0 (DMP-5050/ 8050/ 8065.2) - 1440x900p @ 60Hz
  5. Click the Save button in the upper left.
  6. Enter the DMP password when prompted and click Log In.
