Unable to communicate, TX and RX lit steady on fiber card; Loose ribbon cable

Potential Symptoms

  • Unable to communicate to display from Venus 1500 even though loopback test passes on fibers at Com box when they are spliced together.
  • Both the TX and the RX LEDs on the fiber card are lit solid, if TX fiber is disconnected they remain lit, but if RX fiber is disconnected they both go out.

Cause

  • Loose or disconnected ribbon cable between quick connect (QC) card and controller.

Resolution

  • Reconnect / Reseat ribbon cable both at the QC card and at the controller.
