Indoor scoreboard blank, No response to console, Reversed signal polarity.

Potential Symptoms

  • Indoor hardwired scoreboard is blank and does not respond to the console but does show Power On Self Test (POST).
  • Indoor scoreboard is blank even though console is turned on and is using the correct sport code.
  • Red RX LED is not lit on the driver even if field wiring is bypassed by connecting console directly to the J31 Signal In on the scoreboard.
  • Scoreboard does not respond to a known working console.
  • Signal voltage measured at the J17 pins 1&2 at the driver result in a negative reading (i.e. -13vDC).

Cause

  • Signal wiring at TB31 Signal input terminal block has the positive(+) and negative(-) wires swapped, thus providing a negative voltage to the driver.
    • The reversed wires could be present at either of 2 locations:
      • Incoming side of TB31 from the Incoming signal In
      • Output side of TB31 that then sends signal to the driver J17 plug.

Resolution

  • Reconnect the signal wires to the signal terminal block correctly.
