Receiving Error 14001 when manually starting Fusion Service, Corrupt file.

Potential Symptoms

  • Venus software not launching, sitting at loading Fusion Server.
  • When manually starting the Fusion Service, receive the following error:
    • Windows could not start the Daktronics Fusion service on Local Computer. Error 14001:  The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect.  Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail.

  • When viewing the Daktronics Event Logs or the Windows Application Event logs, you see the following error when starting the Fusion Service:
    • Service cannot be started. System.Xml.XmlException: '.', hexadecimal value 0x00, is an invalid character. Line 1, position 1.

Cause

  • There is a corrupted file that is causing the Fusion Service to not start.
