Cannot remove module from the front. The hole seems blocked.

Potential Symptoms

  • The latch  gear access hole in the front of the module doesn't appear to be blocked but when inserting the 1/8" Allen Tool into it feels like it is not seating into the 1/8" hex hole which is part of the latch gear.
  • Pressing the tool and rotating feels like it is partially seating into the hex hole but not gripping.
  • There may be bugs or wax in the hole.

Cause

  • Insects, pollen and debris can enter these holes and clog up the latch gear 1/8" hex hole.

Resolution

  • It may be possible to dislodge the debris with a pin or similar device as long as it doesn't damage the hex hole.  Keep in mind that this hex hole could be metal or plastic depending on the year it was manufactured.

    • Most displays shipped prior to 2007 have plastic gears.

For Temporary Operation

  • You can remove a module next to the module with the clogged hole and access the gear from the inside to rotate it and remove it.
