Content Studio Layouts: Text not showing when typing into the layout or preview in Content Studio and Venus 1500 is blank

Potential Symptoms

  • When typing text into the yellow layout it types but does not show or no text actually types.
  • You can see the text in the preview below.
  • Preview in both Content Studio and Venus 1500 is blank.
  • Text color will not change on text in text box when highlighted or when text box is selected.
  • Content/Display studio window blank with cursor blinking.
  • May also see in Media Library at the left, the Icons or thumbnails for the media are a default thumbnail and above the list of available Media it shows 0-0 of 0 as if there is no media available, but if navigate to My Daktronics folder all the Media Kit files are present.

Cause

  • The Video Card or Video Driver either does not support Hardware Acceleration or the Hardware Acceleration feature on the Video Card is broken. (The ability to disable Hardware Acceleration is within the Settings file for Content Studio, so it possible to disable Hardware Acceleration for Content Studio. However, we cannot disable Hardware Acceleration for Venus 1500 as it is hard coded into the Venus 1500 v4 Program).

Resolution

  1. Update the video driver. See Intel Driver update utility.
  2. Repair, replace, or install a Video Card that supports Hardware Acceleration and this will resolve both the Text not appearing as well as the preview issue in both Content Studio and Venus 1500.
