Galaxy: Able to connect, unable to send content; Incorrect controller memory setting

Potential Symptoms

  • May be able to connect to display in Venus but unable to send new content to the display.
  • Display lost its messages, has heartbeat pixel on sign, Venus V4 will not connect to sign but able to ping display and connect in M2config.
  • Able to communicate and content does update but content on one side is frozen and not in synch with other side.
  • Time is off by an hour, time Zone is properly set in Venus 1500 and on controller but will not synchronize with computer time.
  • In M2config, File system shows an asterisk for Version 1 File Storage.

Cause

  • Controller's file system is not set to Volatile and can not clear memory to upload new messages.

Resolution

  1. Connect to display controller with M2config How to connect to my Galaxy display using the M2Config Utility, DD2342173.
    • Warning: Misuse of this utility can render your display inoperable.
  2. Under Display>File System set Version 1 File Storage to "Use Volatile Storage."
  3. Click File>Set Configuration or click on blue "down" arrow to send the configuration changes to the controller.
  4. Connect with Venus and send new content to verify.
