Cannot communicate to galaxy display via 56K modem

Potential Symptoms

  • Cannot communicate to galaxy display via 56K modem.
  • When dialing modem display phone number you get no hand shake but you get a answering machine or someone picks up.
  • Venus 1500 error gives "No Write" error.
  • M2Config communication times out and fails.

Cause

  • The 56K modem phone number that you are using, is incorrect.

Resolution

  • Work with phone provider to verify correct modem phone number.
    • Either the number changed, or you entered it into Venus 1500 incorrectly.
    • Its possible that you might have to use a "9" to dial out of that building, or that you might have to remove the "9" if the office settings have changed. (Use the recommended building rules for the analog phone system.)

Verification Test

  • Locate an analog phone and plug it into the phone line jack out at the sign.  The phone should pick up a dial tone.  This lets us know the jack is active and working.  Have someone call the sign and the phone should ring.  This will verify the phone number we are using in Venus 1500 is the correct choice.
