When launching Venus 1500 V4, receiving an alert "Logging is disabled."

Potential Symptoms

  • Receiving an Alert when connecting to display:
    • Logging is disabled.
    • Logging Disabled.jpg
  • When clicking Alert, shows the following error:
    • Log File Access Denied.
    • Unable to write to the log file. Please check the permissions for the file: C:\ProgramData\Daktronics\Venus 1500 V4\Venus1500.log
      • Depending on Operating System, path may be different.
    • Logging Disabled 2.jpg

Cause

  • User does not have correct rights given to access the file listed in the error window.

Resolution

  1. Go to Windows Start Menu, and open Computer or My Computer.
  2. Browse to the Path listed in the error message. (You may need to enable hidden files by going to Tools > Folder Options > View tab > Show Hidden Files, Folders and Drives)
    • Make sure to browse to the path listed in actual error in the Software, as it may have a different path then listed above.
  3. Right-click on Venus1500.log and choose Properties.
  4. Choose Security tab.
  5. Check to make sure Administrator, Administrators and Users all have Full Access.
    • If Users are not listed, click Add or Edit and click Add, type Users and click Ok.
  6. Check off Full Access for all Users and Groups, click Apply and Ok.
Note: May also need to confirm that Read-Only attribute is not checked on the Venus 1500 folder. This can be confirmed in the folder properties General tab.

For Temporary Operation

  • Right click on Venus V4 icon and run as administrator.
