Fiber media converter at the network side does not have the Link LED lit for Ethernet

Potential Symptoms

  • The Link LED for Ethernet is not lighting on the media converter on the building side of the communication line, but the Link for the Fiber is lit.
  • If using a laptop and bypassing the network, the Ethernet Link will light indicating good Ethernet connection between laptop and media converter and can ping the display IP address.
  • Fiber media converter at the network side does not have the Link LED lit for the Ethernet

Cause

  • Connection issue between media converter and network.

Resolution

  • Locate incorrect cable routing/connections and correct it, customer's IT department may need to be involved to resolve it.
