Unable to communicate with display using D-Link USB to Ethernet adapter, adapter is not showing up in network connections and Device Manager show "Code 43" error

Potential Symptoms

  • Unable to communicate with display through D-Link USB to Ethernet adapter.
  • When viewing network connections, the D-Link adapter is not listed as a Local Area Connection.
  • In Device manager, the D-Link DUB E100 properties shows "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)."
  • Reseating the adapter or restarting the computer does not resolve the issue.

  • Component: D-Link Dub E-100 USB 2.0 Fast Ethernet Adapter
  • Control System: Venus 1500 v4, Windows 7 OS, Windows 8 OS, Windows 10 OS

Cause

  • Device Manager shut down the hardware as a result of the device reporting a problem to windows (See the Microsoft Support Page for more information on the code 43 error).

Resolution

  1. Disable and then enable the device in Device Manager.  If reseating the adapter or a computer restart have not been done, try those options.
  2. If the problem is still present, then uninstall the current D-Link driver by right clicking on the adapter in Device Manager and selecting "Uninstall."

  4. Replace the D-Link adapter if the problem still persists after above steps have been attempted.
