When installing Venus 1500 v4.18.1 or greater on Windows Vista get a Windows Installer 4.5 error

Potential Symptoms

  • When installing Venus 1500 v4.18.1 or greater on Windows Vista get a Windows Installer 4.5 error:
    • The installation of Windows Installer 4.5 for Windows Vista (x86) - SQL Server appears to have failed. Do you want to Continue the installation?

  • When installing Microsoft SQL Server 2008 manually on a Windows Vista computer get a Windows Installer 4.5 error:
    • Setup requires Windows Installer 4.5 or higher. You must download and install the latest version of Windows Installer.

Environment

  • Venus 1500 v4
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2008
  • Windows Vista (This may affect Windows XP, or any computer that does not have Windows Installer 4.5)

Cause

    The Windows Operating system does not have Windows Installer 4.5 installed. Microsoft SQL Server 2008 requires Windows Installer 4.5 or greater to be installed.

      Resolution

        User or User's IT Department will need to run Windows Updates and allow Windows Installer 4.5 to be installed before proceeding with Venus 1500 v4 and SQL Server 2008 install.
