Receiving error: "Error adding Windows Firewall exception", Windows firewall service not running.
Potential Symptoms
- When manually installing the fusion service, updating, or installing Venus 1500 v4, receive the following error:

An error occurred while attempting to contact the Windows Firewall service. Make sure that the service is running and try your request again.
- Install rolls back when installing Content Studio. Occurs after prompt "Adding Windows Firewall Exception".

Cause
- Windows Firewall is disabled or the Windows Firewall service is not started or disabled.
Resolution
Note: If not using Windows Firewall or unable to enable/start the service it is okay to bypass this message by clicking OK and the installer will continue. If using a 3rd party firewall, you may need to allow traffic through it.
Option 1: Try starting the Windows Firewall service on computer.
- Launch Windows Services Panel:
- Windows XP - Go to Windows Start Menu -> Run -> Type services.msc, click Ok.
- Windows Vista or 7 - Go to Windows Start Menu -> In the bottom search bar type: Services -> Services will filter into the Windows Start Menu, Click on Services with the gears in front.
- Windows 8 - Hover mouse on the right side of the desktop, click on the Magnifying Glass icon, Type services.msc in the search box and hit [enter].
- Locate the following service: Windows Firewall
- Right-click and choose Start.
Option 2: Enable the Windows Firewall.
For
Windows XP:
- Go to Windows Start Menu -> Run -> Type services.msc, click Ok.
- If run is not an option, right-click on My Computer, choose Manage.
- Go to Services & Applications -> Services.
- Locate the Windows Firewall service.
- Right click and select Properties.
- In the General tab, verify startup type is manual or automatic.
- Click Apply and OK.
- Start the service.
- Continue with the install of Fusion.
- Windows Firewall can be disabled after Fusion is installed.
- Go to Windows Start Menu.

- Right click and select Properties.
