Receiving a Username and Password prompt and seeing a '(403) Forbidden' error in Nucleus error logs and Event logs
Potential Symptoms
- After updating Venus 1500 from 4.17 or earlier to 4.18.1 and greater, receiving a Username and Password prompt right away with no error
- Found the following error when viewing Nucleus error.log found at C:\Program Files (x86)\Daktronics\Nucleus Server\Logs or C:\Program Files\Daktronics\Nucleus Server\Logs:
- The remote server returned error: (403) Forbidden.
- Found the following error in Fusion Event logs at Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer -> Applications and Service Logs -> Daktronics
- May need to scroll through to the bottom of the event to view the error.
- WebExcpetion (3): The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden.
Environment
- Venus 1500 v4.18.1 or greater.
Cause
- In Venus 1500 v4.17, Nucleus Server only needed to communicate through TCP/Proxy by default. After updating to 4.18.1 or greater, they introduced the Fusion Server, the Nucleus Server then needed to talk through the Fusion. However, the Nucleus can not talk to the Fusion Server properly due to it still is trying to talk through the Proxy settings.
- How to confirm if you are using a Proxy Setting:
- Go to Control Panel -> Internet Options -> Connections Tab.
- Click on LAN Settings.
- Under Proxy Server, if Use a proxy server for you LAN is checked, then you are using Proxy Settings.
Resolution
- Contact Daktronics Technical Support for assistance.
