Unable to communicate, USB-Ethernet adapter not listed; Corrupt driver

Potential Symptoms

  • D-Link adapter does not show up in the Network connections or listed with Network cable unplugged.
  • Unable to communicate with the display.
  • If EBR's are present, unable to ping EBR Radio's.
  • D-Link adapter is not showing up in Device Manager

Environment

  • Product Family: Message Displays
  • Product: Galaxy, GalaxyPro, GPx
  • Component: Ethernet communication, USB to Ethernet Adapter (D-Link or other brand)
  • Control System:

Cause

  • D-Link adapters Driver is corrupt.

Resolution

  1. Go to Start, right click on Computer/My Computer and select Manage from the drop down.
  2. In the computer management, go to Device manager on the left hand side.
  3. Click on the arrow or plus sign next to Network Adapters.
  4. Locate the D-Link adapter driver, right click on it, and select Uninstall.
  5. Reseat the D-Link to auto detect and install the driver. 
  6. Manually input the IP information for the D-Link.
