Broadcast and channel do not show on POST, Failed radio receiver

Potential Symptoms

  • No broadcast and/or channel (B&C) settings on boot up or power-on-self-test (POST) of scoreboard.
    • Radio receiver diagnostics LEDs look good.
      • Green power LED is on.
      • Amber in range LED is on.
      • Red data out LED is flickering.
    • Have good power voltage to radio receiver on green & white wires: ~24 VDC for outdoor scoreboards; ~ 18 VAC for indoor scoreboards.
    • Signal voltage is low on red & black wires from radio receiver:  less than 6 or 7 VDC.
    • Have good line of site and antenna orientation.
    • Amber status LED is blinking on driver.
    • Signal voltage from radio receiver still remains low even after unplugging output signal wires from surge card (i.e. in older outdoor boards there is no J45 harness and the surge card was used as the interface for plug/harness coming from the radio).
  • Scoreboard is not responding to the console.
  • Radio receiver LEDS may not be lit at all but have proper incoming voltage, but 0 VDC out.
  • When removing cover to radio receiver the scoreboard starts working.

Cause

  • Failed radio receiver.

Resolution

  • Replace the failed radio receiver.
