RC-100 Controller Shows "Waiting for External Controller" on Display of Unit, Base station lock up

Potential Symptoms

  • When turning on one or multiple RC-100 controllers, the LCD screen on them shows "Waiting for External Controller" and will not allow any other action.

Environment

  • RC-100 Base Station (indoor or outdoor)
  • RC-100 Controller

Cause

  • The Base Station has locked up communication.

Resolution

  1. Power off the RC-100 Controller.
  2. Locate the Base Station.
  3. Power down the Base Station or Sign that the Base Station is installed in, which ever is easiest.
  4. Wait 15 seconds.
  5. Power back on the Base Station or Sign.
  6. Wait approximately 30 seconds for the Base Station to power up and run through start up sequence.
  7. Power back on the RC-100 Controller and connect per the proper channel.
