Nucleus Fusion Have to keep manually starting my Daktronics services when they are set to Start Automatically?
Potential Symptoms
- Keep receiving Nucleus or Fusion Errors when launching Venus 1500.
- Keep having to manually start the Daktronics Services (Microsoft SQL Server (NUCLEUS), Daktronics Fusion and/or Daktronics Nucleus) even when they are set to Automatic start.
Environment
- Product Family: Software
- Product: Venus 1500 V4
- Component: Microsoft SQL Server (NUCLEUS), Daktronics Fusion, Daktronics Nucleus
- Control System: Windows Vista, 7, 8, or 10
- This does not work for Windows XP
Cause
- The 'UAC' also known as 'User Account Control' and Windows Updates can be a factor to consider when receiving the above symptoms. The use of UAC is to ensure users are aware when an application is going to make a change to the computer. When this is turned on, and Windows Updates are set to update when the User is not at the computer, this UAC can or may stop the Services used by Daktronics.
Resolution
- There is no permanent or confirmed resolution at this time. Please see the Workaround options for suggestions.
For Temporary Operation
Suggestion 1: Make sure computer is not set to hibernate. Sometimes, a computer going into hibernation mode, causes services to go idle, or stall, or even stop. We recommend to turn off hibernation and use the Sleep Mode feature, or shut computer down fully.
Suggestion 2: Change the services startup type to Automatic (Delayed Start).Suggestion 3: Set Windows Updates to run when User is at the computer.
- This is not always a recommended suggestion or is allowed for some users depending on their Company Policies and regulations.
- Go to Windows Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Windows Updates.
- Click Settings.
- Under Important Updates, change the Day and Time to a time you are at the computer.
- If feature is grayed out, your Company Policies do not allow user to change or set a Update time.
- This is not always a recommended suggestion or is allowed for some users depending on their Company Policies and regulations.
- Please go to the following Microsoft Article for more information about UAC and how to turn on or off.
