Receiving error 'The connection attempted timed out, or the connection host has failed to respond.' when trying to download files from the Media Kit

Potential Symptoms

  • When downloading the Media kit, receive an error on the individual files attempted to be downloaded:
    • The connection attempted timed out, or the connection host has failed to respond.

Cause

  •  The internet connection is possibly very slow, or the bandwidth is being used up by other sources.

Resolution

  1. Launch Daktronics Media kit.
    • Go to Windows Start Menu -> Programs or All Programs -> Daktronics -> Venus 1500 V4 -> Click on Venus 1500 V4 Media Kit.
  2. Once Loaded, click on General Options.
  3. Under Timeout Settings, click the Up Arrow and change to 30 Seconds for both Received Timeout and Send Timeout.
  4. Under Transfer Settings, click the Down Arrow and change to 1 for the Maximum Simultaneous Transfers.

  5. Click on the Download menu.
  6. Select Display Type.
  7. Place a check next to Get latest content only.
  8. Click Download.
  9. Allow download to complete.
    • Please note due to possible internet connection speeds, the download could take awhile to complete, you can minimize the download and continue to work on your computer while the download completes.

For Temporary Operation

  • If the above does not resolve the issue, either take the computer to a different internet source (You do not need to be connected to display to download the media kit), or contact your IT Department or Internet Service Provider to troubleshoot the computers internet speeds.
