When trying to Install or Update Venus 1500 v4, receiving error 'Root Element is Missing'; Nucleus Server configuration file corrupt

Potential Symptoms

Cause

The Nucleus Server.exe.config file is corrupted or is no longer a valid file and is 0kb in file size.
  1. Go to Windows Start Menu, click Computer or My Computer.
  2. Go to the following location on the computer:
    • Windows 32 Bit - C:\Program Files\Daktronics\Nucleus Server
    • Windows 64 Bit - C:\Program Files (x86)\Daktronics\Nucleus Server
  3. Locate the file named Nucleus Server.exe.config.
  4. If the file size shows 0kb (as seen below) or if you right-click and open with Notepad, and the file has no data within, the file is corrupted.

  5. Continue to the resolution to resolve the issue.

 

Resolution

 

Step 1: Delete the corrupted Nucleus Server.exe.config file.

 

  1. Go to Windows Start Menu, click Computer or My Computer.
  2. Go to the following location on the computer:
    • Windows 32 Bit - C:\Program Files\Daktronics\Nucleus Serve
    • Windows 64 Bit - C:\Program Files (x86)\Daktronics\Nucleus Server
  3. Locate the file named Nucleus Server.exe.config, right-click and select Delete to remove the corrupted file.
Step 2: Run a software repair by following DD2387771 or update Venus 1500 v4 by following DD1993540.
