Display is giving alert "Connection has timed out" after publishing to the display and Venus software locks up; Corrupt message in playlist.

Potential Symptoms

  • Messages are all in Stored Presentations.
  • When trying to publish, get alerts (Communication with the display is in use, Communication with the display has timed out, Connection has timed out), and the Venus software locks up.
  • Retrieving presentation from the display hangs.

Environment

  • Product: Message Displays
  • Product Family: Galaxy (Af-3500, AF-3550); Galaxy Pro (GP4, GPR)
  • Component: M3 Controlled display
  • Control System: Venus 1500 v4

Cause

  • Corrupt message in the playlist is causing the display to lock up and not run the messages correctly.

Resolution

  1. Clear Display Memory. 
  2. Re-Publish the schedule.  Once Published, re-publish.  A message should hang for an extended period; make note of it.
  3. Clear Display Memory again and remove the message that hangs from the schedule.  Publish the schedule.
  4. Re-Publish again after the first time and make sure no other messages stick and they don't get moved to Stored Presentations.
  5. If messages stick, follow step 2 through 4 again.
