FL-3000/4500, DM-100 handheld, When changing price receive error "RADIO COMM ERROR; DNR CMND 17", Correct line to line cable wiring

Potential Symptoms

  • When trying to change gas prices, you see an error message of "RADIO COMM ERROR; DNR CMND 17".
  • When line mapping the displays, you receive same error message, Invalid Checksum, DNR CMD 128, and/or DNR CMD 255.
  • When line mapping the displays, the address may start at something other then 00 and will show same error message when trying to change to different address.
  • Test patterns will show on display, but prices will not change.
  • Only first driver in signal path will flash when line mapping.

Environment

  • Fuelight
  • FL-3000, FL-4500
  • Gas Price or Petroleum Price Display, FL digit product
  • DM-100 Handheld
    • FLR3-1500 Radios (Wireless Communication Option)
    • FLD3-2000 Hardwire kit

Cause

  • Hardware addressing of drivers is not correct and drivers are not responding properly.

Resolution

  1. Redo line to line cabling between drivers so that the output cable is always J9 and the input cable is always J10.
  2. Power cycle the display after re-doing the line to line cabling and re-line map the displays.
