Potential Symptoms

  • Receiving error 'Venus 1500 By Daktronics has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.' when launching Venus 1500 v4.
  • Will see error in Event Viewer Logs: Windows Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer -> Application.
  • .NET Runtime 2.0 Error

Environment

  • Venus 1500 (4.17)

  • Windows XP

Cause

  • The Windows XP Operating System, Regional and Language Options were customized to where the time had the :ss tt removed. The Venus 1500 v4 software is trying to remove the same information that was removed by the Operating System and Venus 1500 v4 could not handle the information already being missing.

    Incorrect Customize Regional Options

Resolution

  1. Go to Windows Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options.
  2. Click Customize -> Time Tab.
  3. Under Time Format, change it from h:mm back to h:mm:ss tt.
  4. Click Apply -> Ok.
  5. Click Apply -> Ok a second time.
  6. Launch Venus 1500 v4 again.
