Potential Symptoms
- Receiving error when trying to save a Presentation in Content Studio "Failed to save the presentation because of an unexpected error. See log file for the error details."
- When trying to open a message in content studios an alert pops up says: The file exists.
- Double clicking the progress/status bar crashes Venus.
- Venus logs show : Object reference set to an instance of an object.
- Content Studio Log or Venus log may show the following:
- system.io.exception: The file exists.
- Venus may give following alert when connecting to display:
- Unable to save automatic backup.
Environment
- Venus 1500 v4
- Show Control / Display Studio
- Content Studio
- Windows XP, Vista, 7 or 8
Cause
- User does not have access to Temporary Files folder or the Temporary Files folder is full.
- Note: the temp folder may not necessarily being using a large amount memory, but may have more than 2616 (65536) files in it.
Resolution
- Empty the Temporary Files folder.
- Launch Windows Start Menu.
- Windows XP - Click Run -> Type cleanmgr -> Click Ok
- Windows Vista or 7 - In the Search Programs and Files box type Disk Cleanup, click Disk Cleanup in the filtered menu.
- From the listed options check off the following if available:
- Downloaded Program Files
- Temporary Internet Files
- Offline webpages
- Recycle Bin (Optional)
- Setup Log File
- Temporary Files (Highly important to check off)
- Click Ok.
- Click Yes, Ok or Delete Files.
- Wait for cleanup process to complete and try saving a presentation again.
