Billboard, Blank section of modules, DC Fans causing power supply failure

Potential Symptoms

  • Blank section of modules, multiple rows and columns affected.
  • Output voltage out of the power supply is fluctuating.
  • Heartbeat on modules and power supply may be blinking or strobing rapidly.
  • Fans may be turning slowly.
  • Fans may be jerky or stopping and starting.

Cause

  • Electrical short in the fan causing the power supply output to drop or fluctuate to the point that the modules cannot operate properly.

Resolution

  • Replace the DC fan that is causing the electrical short.

For Temporary Operation

  • The faulty fan can be disconnected from the power supply until a replacement can be installed.
