Unable to run M2Config, MSXML Error

Potential Symptoms

  • Receiving a MSXML4 error when the M2Config software tries to launch.
  • "MSXML must be installed in order to run this program." message will be observed when trying to run M2Config with MSXML4 not configured or installed.


 

Environment

  • Galaxy
  • M2Config

Cause

  • The cause of the problem is that MSXML4 is not registered or installed.

Resolution

  1.  Attempt to register MSXML4 manually.
    1. Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt
      Note: on Windows 7 and Windows Vista, it may be necessary to run command prompt as administrator. To do so, right click Command Prompt and click "Run as Administrator".
    2. Type "cd C:\Windows\System32" - hit enter
    3. Type "regsvr32 msxml4.dll" - hit enter
    4. A message box should pop up stating the operation was successful
  2. If this fails, or it is not present, install MSXML 4.0  SP3 (Select msxml.msi option) information for this can be found at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/

  3. Uninstall M2Config (if it already installed).

  4. Reinstall M2Config as Administrator (right click on setup file, select Run as Administrator).
