RC-100 Handheld displaying Default channel ##; Handheld in Config mode

Potential Symptoms

  • Cannot change prices with the FLR-500 handheld.
  • Wireless scoreboard blank and not responding to RC-100 handheld.
  • Handheld displaying Default channel ##.

Environment

  • Product: FL-2000, FL-2100, FL-2109, FL-2300, FL-4000, DF-2000, DF-2009, DF-2100, DF-2109, DF-2300, DF-4000, Fuelight or DataMaster, Gas Price or Petroleum Displays, Wireless scoreboard
  • Component: RC-100 handhelds and Base Station radios
  • Control System: FLR-500, RC-100

Cause

  • Handheld is in Config mode, displaying Default channel ##.

Resolution

  1. Verify what channel the base station is on currently.
    1. If channel is unknown, open up the base station and check the rotary dial setting for channel.
    2. If base station is not accessible to verify channel settings continue to step 2.
  2. Set FLR-500/RC-100 handheld to proper channel.  Follow How to change channel on RC-100 or FLR-500 handheld? DD2078541 on how to set channel on FLR-500 handheld.
    1. If able to verify channel on base station, set channel on the FLR-500/RC-100 handheld and connect to the display.
    2. If not able to verify channel on base station, attempt to connect with each channel starting with channel 1 and continuing to channel 15 on the handheld.
  3. Update display with price or sports data.
