Cannot connect to display with Venus 1500, Incorrect display configuration

Potential Symptoms

  • Unable to connect to configured display in Venus software (SW) but able to connect from M2config for M2 and M3 controllers.
  • Receive a "No Response" error in Venus.
  • Display may be garbled or not showing content, but will play test patterns.
  • Animations won't play on sign.
  • Color on the sign is incorrect, or display is only showing Red, no other colors.
  • Lines are missing on the display, columns or rows are blank.

  • Component: MDC, M2 and M3 Controller based products
  • Control System: Venus 1500 Version 3, Venus 1500 Version 4

 

Cause

  • Display's configuration is incorrect in the Venus 1500 V3 or V4 software.

Resolution

  1. Open Venus Administrator (Far right button on the Venus Shell).
  2. Select Edit, Display Wizard.
  3. Select Manually create a Display.
  4. Create a new Configuration.
  5. Select Correct Controller Type and Family (MDC = Version 2, M2 & M3 = Version 3).
  6. Set correct size (display dimension Pixels high X Pixels wide).
  7. Set correct Color Depth, (MDC's are Monochrome or RGB 8, reference How to configure the standard settings for Commercial Galaxy Displays in M2Config, DD2241913 for correct settings).
  8. Set communication and time settings to the same as before.

For Temporary Operation

  • Select Auto detect in the Display Wizard and enter in the correct information to connect to the display.  This will pull the information from the sign.
