The Layout Storyboard panel, the Layout, or the thumbnails are not showing in Content Studio or appear to be missing

Potential Symptoms

  • The Layout Storyboard panel is missing the thumbnails or only shows the Transition icon.
  • The Layout Panel (Black box with yellow boarder) is missing.
  • The Media Kit Library is missing from the left side of the content creation window.

Environment

  • Venus 1500 V4

Cause

  • The layout storyboard was shrunk or using a smaller screen resolution (such as a netbook laptop which only gets 1024x600) which cannot allow all the panels to appear properly. Venus 1500 v4 software requires a minimum screen resolution of 1280x1024.
  • The layout panel was shrunk within the Content Studio.

Resolution

Resolution 1: If Layout Panel is missing resize the panel.

  1. Launch Content Studio.
  2. Hover your mouse pointer just below the Ribbon Menu, until you get a double arrow. (See screen shot)
  3. Click and drag your mouse down until you see the panel gets to the desired size.
  4. Use Content Studio as intended.

Example 1:

Resolution 2: If layout story board is missing thumbnails, or is missing fully, resize the layout story board panel.

  1. Launch Content Studio.
  2. Hover your mouse pointer just above the Display Type in the bottom left corner or slightly above that, until you get a double arrow. (See screen shot)
  3. Click and drag your mouse up until you see the thumbnails.
    • You may see the layout panel shrink.
  4. Use Content Studio as intended.

Resolution 3: Adjust the Windows Screen Resolution.

Step 1: Adjust the Screen Resolution.

Windows XP:

  1. Open Windows Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Displays.
  2. Click on the Settings tab.
  3. Under Screen Resolution, click and drag the Slider to a higher screen resolution.
  4. Click Apply, screen may blank for a moment.
  5. When prompted to apply the changes, click Ok.
  6. You will have 15 seconds to confirm the changes, click Yes.

Windows Vista or 7:

  1. Right-Click on the computer Desktop, click Screen Resolution.
  2. Under Resolution, click the drop-down menu and slide the Slider to a higher resolution.
  3. Click Apply, screen may blank for a moment. 
  4. Click Keep Changes.

Step 2: Try Content Studio again.
