BA-1018 not showing broadcast and channel settings during boot sequence, radio has power

Potential Symptoms

  • Board shows a boot up sequence, but not everything shows up properly.   
    • Protocol (P0) does not show.
    • Address (A012) does not show.
    • Radio Broadcast and Channel Settings (bxCx) does not show.
    • Full segment circular digit pattern shows successfully.

Environment

  • BA-1018
  • All sport with Radio

Cause

  • This is normal operation. 
    • Radio settings are designed to show on the digits connected to the driver's J1, J2, J3, and J4.  Of these 4 driver outputs, BA-1018 is wired only for J1 and J2 and does not use J3 and J4 which would show the channel settings. 
    • J1 is only a 2 vertical segment digit and not a full 7 segment.  Only part of the P, A and B can show on J1.  See images below for the visual shown on boot up. 

Resolution

  • Look at the radio settings on the radio in the scoreboard.
