VFC-3000 won't display message using software at a remote location

Potential Symptoms

I can ping the display, so I know I have good connection to it, but my message doesn't show up on the display.

  • Product Family: Transportation
  • Product: VF, VX, VM 
  • Component: VFC-3000 controller
  • Control System: Vanguard Software

Resolution

  1. Check Version Info under diagnostics in the VFC-300 controller. Do you see any "?" If you do, then your connection from the controller to the sign is bad.
  2. Check IP of sign is set to correct IP provided by Customer.
  3. Display a test pattern on the sign locally, tests if communication to sign is working out of the TX port of the VFC-3000 controller.
  4. View peripherals for any errors, this checks that the RX port communications.
  5. Connect directly to Controller and run a message. if no message will play continue troubleshooting VFC. if message plays, have TMC connect and play message.
  6. TMC can't display the message, check with Vanguard software to verify settings. Check switch or other items in the communications line.
