Published or sent content to display, Display blanks, Database transferred wrong format

Potential Symptoms

  • After publishing content to the display, the display is blank with heartbeat pixel flashing.
  • Venus may show error message in Version 4 showing no connection.
  • Venus may also connect and show messages listed in Stored Presentations but when schedule is published, they remain in Stored and do not move to Running Presentations.

  • Component: M3 controller, M2 Controller
  • Control System: Venus 1500 recently updated from V3 to V4

Cause

  • Messages were retrieved from the display when the end user switched from Version 3 to Version 4. These messages are a different file format than what is used in Version 4 and will cause errors if not corrected.

Resolution

  1. Clear memory and defrag the display in M2Config.
    1. How to perform a memory reset using the M2Config utility?, DD2347391.
    2. How to run a defragment of the display controller using M2Config?, DD2792898.
  2. In Venus, go to Content Studio, open all the old messages the end user wishes to use and then save them. This will save them in the new file format and make them available to use.
  3. Resend content to the display.
