RC-100 / RC-200 will not connect with the Base Station that is connected to their computer running a stats program

Potential Symptoms

  • RC-100 / RC-200 will not find or connect to the on-site Base Station.

Environment

  • Product: RC-100 / RC-200 controller(s)
  • Component: RC-100 / RC-200 Base Station
  • Control System: CPU running stats (DakTennis, DakVolleyball, etc)

Cause

  • CPU already on and the base station is not. If the computer is sending information through the serial com port when the base station is powered on causes the base station to lock up and not boot up correctly.

Resolution

  1. Power down all RC-100s / RC-200s.
  2. Power off the base station.
  3. Disconnect the signal (can or serial) to the base station.
  4. Power back on the base station and make sure that it runs through its boot up sequence.
  5. Power up one RC-100 / RC-200 at a time and verify that they now connect to the base station.
  6. NOTE - The next step will wipe out any current information on the customer's boards if they have been entering information manually.
  7. Plug the serial cable back in.
  8. Verify information from the RC-100s / RC-200s is currently active on the boards.
