When launching Venus 1500 V4 and entering in username and password the login window would sit there and do nothing

Potential Symptoms

  • When launching Venus 1500 V4 and entering in username and password the login window would sit there and do nothing.
  • Receive a Nucleus Error when launching Venus 1500 v4.
  • Receive possible error when launching Venus 1500 v4:

Environment

  • Venus 1500 v4

Cause

Part of the Daktronics software and its contents folder were compressed. See image below. If you see any folders or file names and the text is blue, that means that it is a compressed file/folder.

Resolution

Step 1: Stop Daktronics Nucleus and SQL Server (Nucleus).
Step 2: Uncompress any folders or files within both the Daktronics Folder and Microsoft SQL Server folder and Hidden Daktronics Folder.
  1. Go to C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86)
  2. Right-click on Daktronics folder and choose Properties.
  3. From the General tab click Advanced.
  4. Uncheck Compress contents to save disk space., click Ok.
  5. Click Apply.
  6. Choose Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files., click Ok.
    • Repeat these steps on the Microsoft SQL Server Folder if any or some of the files are compressed.
    • NOTE:  If the Compress contents to save disk space is not checked, try checking it and click Ok and Apply changes to the folder, subfolders and files. Then follow steps 6-8. 
    • Also may need to run the Nucleus Database Diagnostics and repair or detach and attach the databases.

Step 3: Uncompress any folders or files within the hidden Daktronics Folder.

    • Go to the following location:
      • Windows XP: C:\Program Files\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data
      • Windows Vista, 7 or 8: C:\Program Files (x86)
      • Right-click on Daktronics folder and choose Properties.
      • From the General tab click Advanced.
      • Uncheck Compress contents to save disk space., click Ok.
      • Click Apply.
      • Choose Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files., click Ok.
        • NOTE:  If the Compress contents to save disk space is not checked, try checking it and click Ok and Apply changes to the folder, subfolders and files. Then follow steps 6-8.
        • Also may need to run the Nucleus Database Diagnostics and repair or detach and attach the databases.

        Step 4: Start Daktronics Nucleus and SQL Server (Nucleus).

        Step 5: Launch Venus 1500 v4 Software again.
