How to use fiber and radio communication for a scoreboard.

Environment

  • Fiber Optic & Radio communication
  • Driver with fiber jack
    • 16 Column 0P-1192-0383 w/ J26 fiber, J21 Radio, and J22 RC-100 jacks
    • 8 Column 0P-1192-0391 w/ J26 fiber, J21 Radio, and J22 RC-100 jacks

Resolution

  1. Both fiber and radio can be used without issues
  2. A current loop (CL) to fiber converter will be needed at the console
  3. Connect fiber and radio connections directly at the driver
    1. For fiber, use the built in fiber jack
    2. For radio, use the J45 jack which connects to a 4-pin jack (e.g. J21) on the driver, instead of going through the surge card
  4. The fiber signal will override the wireless signal, so that there won't be any conflict if both signals are present.  If any issues do arise, simply modify the broadcast/channel settings on the All Sport console so that they are set incorrectly (i.e. not set to the proper broadcast and channel settings to communicate with the board)
