No communication, LAN connected then Network cable unplugged; Blocked by Firewall

Potential Symptoms

  • Display has heartbeat only, unable to connect on IP through Venus 1500.
  • Able to ping display but not connect with M2Config or Venus 1500.
  • IPConfig on PC shows network cable unplugged.

Environment

  • Product Family: Message Displays
  • Product: Galaxy
  • Component: Ethernet, Ethernet Bridge Radios (EBR) or Fiber Ethernet communication
  • Control System: Venus 1500 v4

Cause

  • There is a firewall running on the PC LAN connection with the site network.

Resolution

  • Unblock port 3001 (default) or what ever port used for sign on firewall

Work Around

  • Temporarily turn firewall off on the PC LAN connection.

OR

  • Bypass network. Hook up Venus 1500 PC direct to POE or network cat 5 cable to display.
