Unable to connect to VFC-3000 using a serial cable

Potential Symptoms

Cannot establish a connection from computer to controller using a Null modem cable.

Cause

Incorrect cable

Resolution

1. Use a Null modem cable to connect from the computer to the controller.
2. Check device manager on your computer to see the port settings to be sure you are using the correct communication port.
3. Open Vanguard software. Look at the network settings to be sure the comm port is set the same as the computer.
4. Click connect in the Vanguard software to get status to the VFC-3000.
