Webcam: Not showing the creative content in the order it is scheduled or sold in Venus Control Suite

Potential Symptoms

  • Webcam is not showing the creative content in the order it is scheduled or sold in Venus Control Suite.
  • Webcam seems slow and/or is not showing a live feed.

Cause

  • Visiconn webcam images are pulled in from an outside source and are a snapshot of a live feed. 
  • Due to Visiconn only doing a page refresh every 10 seconds and the potential latency issues with the connection, creative may appear as though it is playing out of sync, not in the correct order, or show up as not holding for the correct duration.
  • The webcam for Venus Control Suite will update at the same interval as the image duration. Even so, we have noticed that not every message will show in VCS.

Resolution

  • None, and there will not be a fix or change to this issue as it is unavoidable.  Webcams are primarily used for verifying visual issues with the displays such as pixel issues or display malfunctions.

Work Around

  • Creative content will always play in the order it is scheduled. The most accurate way to verify play order/rotation is to go to the physical location of the display and watch/view it from there.
