Galaxy, no Ethernet communication, Windows Vista, a PING results in PING: transmit failed, error code 1231

Potential Symptoms

  • Unable to connect to sign with Venus.
  • Unable to connect to the sign in M2Config.
  • With the correct IP settings on the computer to connect to the display, if trying to ping the display IP address, get "PING: transmit failed, error code 1231".

Environment

  • Galaxy
  • M3
  • Venus 1500 (4)
  • Windows Vista, Windows 7
  • Ethernet based communication

Cause

  • Unknown OS error.

Resolution

  • Uncheck Internet Protocol IPV6 in LAN Properties.
    1. Open Local Area Connection and go to properties.
    2. Remove checkmark next to Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6).
    3. Click OK to close the window.
    4. Check communication in Venus to verify or try to ping the display address again.
