Cause

  • Unable to get to the Nucleus Database due to user account restrictions.
  • How to get to the Nucleus Database (or verify issue) see screen shot below.
  1.  Start -> Run -> type CMD -> hit Enter key.
  2.  Type: sqlcmd -S \Nucleus
  3.  Hit Enter key.
  4.  Type: use [Nucleus Database]
  5.  Hit Enter key.
  6.  Type: Go
  7. Hit Enter key.
  8. If you receive error:
  • msg 916, Level 14, State 1, Server "PC NAME"\NUCLEUS, Line 1. The server principal "PC NAME\USER NAME" is not able to access the database "Nucleus database" under the current security context.

Resolution

  1.  Go to Windows Start Menu -> All Programs -> Microsoft SQL Server 2005 -> Configuration Tools -> SQL Server 2005 Surface Area Configuration.
  2.  Click Add New Administrator.
  3.  Under Available privileges: highlight Member of SQL Server SysAdmin role on NUCLEUS
  4.  Click the Center Arrow pointing to the Right to send it to Privileges that will be granted to "PC NAME\USER NAME"
  5.  Click Ok.
