Time is slow or behind on Time & Temp display after having the display powered down or after a power outage
Potential Symptoms
- Time is running slow, behind, or off on Time & Temp display after having the display powered down for a short amount of time or after a power outage.
- After power outage for only a few hours, time is off and needs to be reset with the DM-100 handheld.
Environment
- DataTime
- DF-1010, DF-1011
- Time & Temperature Display
- Real Time Clock (RTC) is enabled (display powered off or power outage will enable RTC time keeping)
Cause
- Onboard Real Time Clock (RTC) not keeping time on driver as well as it should be. RTC circuitry on driver board is not working correctly.
Resolution
Note: There is some loss of time when using RTC mode. The RTC option is more of a backup system and will not keep time as well as 60hz time keeping setup.
- For this issue it is recommended to update the Display using the DM-100 handheld. Follow How do I set the time on a Time & Temp display?
- When the display is powered up it will no longer use RTC and will go back to using 60Hz option for time keeping.
- If there is a need for RTC mode to work more accurately:
- Replace the primary driver or swap the drivers in a 2V setup.
- Note: In a primary/secondary configuration, the primary side will re-drive its time and temp signal to the slave display. One can simply swap drivers with the secondary display to see if the issue resolves (make sure to move protocol plug as well).
- Replace the primary driver or swap the drivers in a 2V setup.
