Unable to connect to the display via 56K modem with newly installed V4 software, Time out too low

Potential Symptoms

  • Unable to connect to the display with newly installed V4 software.
  • Getting "No Response" from the software.
  • Upon refresh of the connection getting an "Invalid Response".

Environment

  • Product Family: Message Displays

  • Component: 56K modem communication
  • Control System: Venus 1500

Cause

  • Software timing out before communication can be established.

Resolution

  • Increase the timeout time to 120 seconds in modem setting within the Venus 1500 V4 software.

Note: If you use a modem and have been connecting/disconnecting frequently the computer's modem may have locked up. Go to Device Manager (right click My Computer->Manage->Device Manager) and disable the modem. Wait a couple of seconds and then enable it. This should reset the modem and allow you to connect.
