Unable to communicate with display using Serial Signal Converter; Wires broken or disconnected

Potential Symptoms

  • Not able to communicate with the display.
  • Display may be blank or playing old messages.
  • Signal converter RX LED indicator is not lighting when trying to communicate, but the Power LED is lit and TX flashes.
  • Loopback at the end of the signal cable run fails.
  • Power light, RX and TX lights are not lit.

Cause

  • One or more wires have been broken or disconnected from the green Phoenix connector (RS-422 output) on the signal converter.

Resolution

  • Re-terminate the wire(s) to the terminals on the Phoenix connector.
  • Connect power cord and serial cables not connected to signal converter.
