Galaxy using serial radio, no communication, RX lit solid on J-box bad cable or wire connection

Potential Symptoms

  • Unable to communicate to display.
  • Venus 1500 or M2Config never retrieves status or time out.
  • When loopback is placed in phoenix plug on J-box, Power and RX are lit solid.
    • Loopback test out of j-box is garbled.

Radio Configuration Utility Symptom

  • Received Polling Server Failed response using the Radio Configuration Utility.

Cause

  • Broken, frayed, or not well terminated power or ground wires at the terminal block of the J-Box or server radio.

Resolution

  • Re-terminate the signal wires: (Take note of how the phoenix jack is wired and write it down)
    1. Unplug power to the J-box.
    2. Using a small precision straight edged screwdriver, loosen the wires and remove them from the plug.
    3. Re-strip all 6 wires for the signal.
    4. Place freshly stripped wires back into phoenix plug in the order they were to begin with and tighten them down.
