Time and Temp Display showing E5 Error on host side or blank client; No address set

Potential Symptoms

  • Host Display Symptoms: The symptoms below are what would be seen if the cause was applied to the Host side driver.

    • E5 error on host display and client display is blank.
    • Display boots up and only displays the revision.

    • When trying to communicate to the display with the DM-100 only the dimming option will respond.

  • Client Display Symptoms: The symptoms below are what would be seen if the cause was applied to the client side driver.

    • Blank display on client display after replacing driver but the Host Display communicates and has no issues.
    • Will not go through any boot up sequence on client display.
    • Swapping driver from client display to host display and now host has an E5 error.
    • Client displays garbage information

Environment

  • Product Family: Digit and Price Displays
  • Product: DF-1010, DF-1011, DF-1012, DF-2309, DF-1071 Time and Temperature Digit Displays, DataTime
  • Component: Driver address dip switches, Commonly occurs on new installation or MASC driver replacement
  • Control System: DM-100, Alpha Numeric

Cause

  • No address set (Dip switches are set to all off).
    • Time and Temp displays must be addressed at 1.

Note: Dip switches can get into a state where they are not fully pressed or "stuck".  So even though the dips switch appears to be down on 1 we are getting the above symptoms.  In these scenarios, turn the appropriate dip switch off and then back on.  Sign should boot up on Ad 0 0 0 1.

Resolution

  • Set both Host and Client driver dip switch 1 to ON.
