Two or more Message Center displays both using EBRs, Poor communication to both displays when both server radios are powered on

Potential Symptoms

  • Communication slowly drops off over a period of a few months.
  • When both pair of radios are powered up the block error rate is greater than 40%.
  • When only one pair of radios are powered up the block error rate is 0%.
  • When both displays are connected in VCS, one display will disconnect intermittently.
  • When one display in VCS reconnects, the other may or may not drop intermittently.

Environment

  • Outdoor Message Center (Galaxy, GalaxyPro, GS6)
  • Multiple sets of Ethernet Bridge Radios (EBRs)
  • Venus Control Suite (VCS)

Cause

  • Improper radio installation.  When multiple server radios are installed in one area it is recommend to have a minimum distance of 20-25 ft of separation between them. 

Resolution

  • Install server radios with at least 20-25 ft of separation between them.
