How do I update my Sports Wire 4000?

Update Procedure

  1. Locate and login to the computer(s) where Sports Wire 4000 will be installed/updated.
    • Traditionally this will be on the SWI-P machine. It may also be installed on the DSTI-P. 
  2. Backup the configuration (see steps below).
  3. Close down any open Sports Wire 4000 programs.
  4. Click on the installer: Dakfiles | Sports Products | Sports Wire 4000 .
  5. Follow the onscreen instructions.
  6. Click finish when done.
  7. An icon should appear on the desktop. Double-click this icon to open the program.
  8. Confirm new version.
    Note: If doing a mid-season update no need to go further.
  9. License the Sports Wire 4000 (yearly renewal).
    1. When the Sports Wire 4000 application is first opened, users will be prompted to obtain a new software license.
    2. Find the serial number near the top of the registration window.
      1. Contact technical support and provide the serial number. 
      2. They will verify the license billing/entitlements and send you an unlock code. 
  10. After unlocking the application, verify scores are updating if any games available today.
  11. Verify that Commands are present under the Driver tab.
  12. Verify outputs are configured under the Outputs tab.
  13. Repeat the above steps on the Backup SWI computer (if available).

Backup Procedure

  1. Click on the task bar in the top left corner of the program.
  2. Select Backup Sports Wire 4000 configuration.
  3. Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Daktronics\Sportswire4000
    1. Grab all files with backup in the name for external backup/ submittal.
    2. Save a local copy to C:\Tools.

Viewing Diagnostics

The Sports Wire 4000 software has built in diagnostics to troubleshoot connection problems and to monitor incoming data.

  1. On the Sports Wire 4000 start screen, locate the Diagnostics area.
  2. In the Port drop-down list, select the desired output port.
  3. After a few seconds, data should appear in the monitor window.
