Pixel test reports 500 pixel errors

Potential Symptoms

  • Pixel test reports 500 pixel errors and modules flash error code 1
  • Not sure we have the right configuration setup in the controller.
  • Display may or may not play a test pattern but the controller reports pixel errors.

Environment

  • Product Family: Transportation
  • Product: Vanguard VF
  • Component: Module
  • Control System: VFC-3000 controller

Cause

  • Incorrect module or display height and width settings.

Resolution

  1. Log into the controller.
  2. Select Configuration.
  3. Select System Configuration.
  4. Select Configure Displays.
  5. Select Module Type.
  6. Select your mod color. Example Mono, TRI or RGB.
  7. Select GEN 4 (24 Volt Bus). Most common for newer VF display types.
  8. Select the module size you have in the sign. Example of module dimensions 9 pixels high X 5 pixels wide.
  9. Determine pixel spacing. Example 66mm (18" Character).
  10. Reset controller by going to Reset Only option in the menu to save the new configuration.
  11. Run pixel test and test patterns to verify sign is functioning properly.
  12. If still not functioning correctly verify that the display height and width is set correctly.

  13. Select Configuration.

  14. Select System Configuration.
  15. Select Configure Displays.
  16. Verify that the pixel height and width are correct.
