Galaxy, M2 M3, Unable to ping display but can communicate with Venus 1500

Potential Symptoms

  • Not able to/Cannot/Unable to ping display IP address, but connects with Venus 1500.
  • Receive "ping request timed out."
  • M2Config does establish a connection using same IP address.

Environment

  • Galaxy
  • M2/M3
  • Ethernet

Cause

  • Respond to Ping Command is not checked in M2Config settings.

Resolution

  • Log into the controller with M2Config and check the box located next to "Respond to PING command" under the Communications/Security folder.  Then select File/Set Configuration to upload changes.

    Detailed Instructions
    1. Using M2config utility obtain a connection to the display controller.
    2. Click on "Communications" folder on left side of window.
    3. Click on "Security" on left side of window.
    4. Click in check box next to "Respond to PING command"- a check mark will appear in the check box.
    5. Click on blue down arrow at top of window OR click File and then click "set configuration."
    6. Try to ping the IP address of the display to verify response after display is finished rebooting.
