When trying to start the Daktronics Nucleus Server, Daktronics Fusion Server or the SQL Server (NUCLEUS) the option to Start or Restart is grayed out due to the server is disabled

Potential Symptoms

  • When trying to start the Daktronics Nucleus Server, Daktronics Fusion Server or the SQL Server (NUCLEUS) the option to Start or Restart is grayed out due to one or both of the Daktronics Nucleus Server or the SQL server is disabled.
  • When launching Venus 1500 v4 software, one gets a "Nucleus Service not running. Nucleus Service Failed to load" error.
  • When launching Venus 1500 v4 software get the error "Fusion service could not be started. Cannot open Daktronics Fusion service on computer."
  • Error is followed by a user name and password prompt.
  • Venus Error Log may show Data Access Error

Environment

  • Venus 1500 (v4)

Cause

  • Daktronics Nucleus server, Daktronics Fusion Server and/or SQL Server (NUCLEUS) was disabled and cannot start or be started.

Resolution

  • Enable the services that are disabled.


  Windows XP

  1. Go to Windows Start Menu -> Run -> Type services.msc -> Ok.
    • If run is not an option, right-click on My Computer, choose Manage. Go to Services & Applications -> Services.
  2. Locate the following services in the following order:
    • SQL Server (NUCLEUS).
    • Daktronics Fusion (Venus 1500 v4.18 and greater only)
    • Daktronics Nucleus Server
  3. Right-click and select Properties on each service listed in order.
  4. Go to General Tab, change the Startup type to Automatic
  5. Once Service is Automatic, under Service Status click Start.
  6. Try launching Venus 1500 v4, Show Control Systems or Vanguard.
Windows Vista or 7
  1. Go to Windows Start Menu.
  2. In the bottom search bar type: Services
    • Services will filter into the Windows Start Menu.
  3. Click on Services with the gears in front.
  4. Locate the following services in the following order:
    • SQL Server (NUCLEUS).
    • Daktronics Fusion (Venus 1500 v4.18 and greater only)
    • Daktronics Nucleus Server
  5. Right-click and select Properties on each service listed in order.
  6. Go to General Tab, change the Startup type to Automatic.
  7. Once Service is Automatic, under Service Status click Start.
  8. Try launching Venus 1500 v4, Show Control Systems or Vanguard.

Windows 8

  1. Hover mouse in upper right corner of the screen until you see search icon
  2. click search icon and type Run
  3. type services.msc
  4. Locate the following services in the following order:
    • SQL Server (NUCLEUS).
    • Daktronics Fusion (Venus 1500 v4.18 and greater only
    • Daktronics Nucleus Server 
  5. Right-click and select Properties on each service listed in order.
  6. Go to General Tab, change the Startup type to Automatic.
  7. Once Service is Automatic, under Service Status click Start.
  8. Try launching Venus 1500 v4, Show Control Systems or Vanguard.
